As part of an ongoing project that pioneers the exploration of new media art across the African continent through series of workshops, interactions and collaborations, VAN Lagos is elated to facilitate a 7-day intensive new media art workshop Du Bois In Our Time at the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre, Accra, Ghana.
Workshop facilitators, Emeka Ogboh and Jude Anogwih of VAN Lagos with the support of the workshop organizers and host institution, Nubuke Foundation and The W.E.B. Du Bois Centre, Accra respectively, will take the workshop participants through the fundamentals of new media art as they develop methods and processes for creating solo and collaborative works in line with the philosophical assertions of W.E.B. Du Bois. Participants will develop narrations that x-rays social, economic, cultural and political interests of their immediate environment and the continent at large.
The W.E.B. Du Bois's discourse on Pan-Africanism is the strategic focal point of this workshop and participants will explore new possibilities of revisiting this vis-a-vis experimental sound and video art platforms.
VAN Lagos is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to develop new media art and specifically video art, encourage networks and support collaborations between new media artists, curators and cultural producers in Lagos, Africa and the rest of the world.
